ABSTRACT

This empirical study of the Sikhs in the Deccan and the North-East focuses on the Dakhani and Axomiya Sikhs, although there are others, too, like the tribal (Sikligar and Banjara) and the Scheduled Castes Sikhs in the two regions. There are three types of Sikhs: one who travelled with the gurus, others who belonged to the army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the latter-day Punjabi Sikh migrants.
