ABSTRACT
The chapter introduces the Deccan and the oral history of the Dakhani Sikhs believed to be brought there by Maharaja Chandu Lal of the Hyderabad state in 1832 and organised into the Sikh Force under the Irregular Troops. The socio-cultural features of the Dakhani Sikhs are highlighted. The Sikligar and Banjara Sikhs are briefly sketched. Nanded, Bidar and Hyderabad are shown to be the cities of Dahkani Sikh concentration.
