ABSTRACT

In this chapter, empirical data is described and analysed under different heads to examine the socio-economic and cultural profile of the Sikhs in the Deccan and the North-East: demographic features; communication between people, issue of language at home and outside; making a living or present occupation, income, assets and so forth; living space, the nature and type of dwellings, including basic amenities like water, electricity and source of cooking; and type of vehicles and pets owned.
