ABSTRACT

The two hermeneutical keys of following “the spirit of Vatican II” identified in Chapter 2 have already been employed in the process of interpretation and implementation of Amoris Laetitia. Similarly to the texts of the Council, Amoris Laetitia contains passages in which the traditional teachings and impulses to the new are simply juxtaposed and left for future synthesis carried out in the spirit of creative fidelity. Most commonly this creative fidelity focuses on the novelties and considers the new openings as the locus of the true meaning and the intention of the text. Also similarly to Vatican II, Amoris Laetitia was labelled “a linguistic event,” and it is argued also here that the way the magisterium decides to speak is as important as what it actually says.
