Introduction

The Introduction describes the target areas of the book: lack of research about police attitudes toward youth; lack of police training about working with 16 to 25 year olds, the demographic group they are most likely to encounter; and to elevate an intervention, Youth Police Initiative (YPI) that could improve police–youth relations. The research methods are also described.
