ABSTRACT

A grand demonstration, in connexion with the sittings of the World’s Temperance Convention, took place on Friday evening, in Covent Garden theatre; which was filled to excess on the occasion. On the platform were delegates from different quarters of the globe. The chair was taken by G. W. Alexander, Esq., treasurer of the National Temperance and Anti-Slavery Societies. A number of speakers addressed the chair, one of whom was Frederick Douglass, the fugitive slave.
