ABSTRACT
Great media disruptions change everything: politics, society, psyches. The invention of printing and the emergence of the press, the spread of broadcasting, were each the consequence of social and political upheaval but they also brought about great shifts in society and political systems. So the social media are creating new ways of living and new choices. What feels like and often is, gossip, is shaping how we see the world and profoundly remaking how it is organised.
