ABSTRACT

This chapter presents tools that are included to model some of the strategies we have suggested in this book. The first is a chart that lays out three different perspectives: the problematic religious belief contrasted with a scientific response and a biblical/theological response. The second tool is a listing of various churches and denominations that can serve as a reference if the client is unaware that the Christian Church can be sex-affirming or if they show interest in expanding their religious practice toward a more inclusive and accepting faith community. This list is not a single authoritative source as it is incomplete as well as time and culture bound and, sometimes, dependent on the local community. It is, however, a place to look for sex-positive and faithful allies. Lastly, we have provided two sample timelines that, once developed longitudinally, make it easier to reveal sexual and religious themes, identify significant influencers, and reveal possible areas for further therapeutic exploration.
