ABSTRACT

The size of the try-out group was largely dictated by operational constraints. An examination of how feedback data from one unit of A101 led to revisions will illustrate the try-out system in action. All aspects of course production are the team's collective responsibility. After an early planning phase, responsibilities for the preparation of each course component were allocated to individual members of the course team. At a fairly early stage in the planning of the course, the course team made a collective decision to conduct student try-out after the stages of expert appraisal and before publication and presentation to the full student body. After analysing all the data from the in-text feedback questions and elsewhere, the evaluator prepared a written report for the author and other members of the course team concerned with this particular unit. Responses to the feedback questions were mailed to the evaluator by the students, along with study-time logs and copies of assignments.
