ABSTRACT

Identity is a salient topic in Native American and indigenous studies, receiving attention from health disparities researchers and policymakers. Views on the impact of identity ambiguity on spiritual, physical, and community health are explored. Results of conflicted identity provide a backdrop for a deeper historical understanding of colonialism, racism, and structural and symbolic violence. Simultaneously, cultural continuity displays a high level of resilience within he Tribal community, and identity as a process of healing.
