ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides a practical resource for anyone looking for possible strategies to deal with bullying. It focuses on how to warm up participants, getting them ready for intensive groupwork. The book includes basic steps as well as more advanced techniques and strategies in an easy reference format. It deals with the assumption that the reader wants to find out, research or explore a variety of strategies for dealing with bullying. In dealing with bullying, there is great value in collaboration, inclusion and partnership. Bullying affects some people so badly that they feel a need to take their own lives. Political pressure has been placed on some large anti-bullying organisations to recommend only government-approved strategies, and many groups compete for funding from diminishing pots of money. Bullying exists in all schools and all organisations, including anti-bullying organisations.
