For practical purposes, the Committee came to the conclusion that the bene ts to be derived from any scheme applied in the Colony as an alternative in part or in whole to a free pensions scheme should approximate in form to those granted under a free pensions scheme. e Committee, therefore, examined the possibility of inaugurating a contributory pension scheme as opposed to a provident fund scheme.
