ABSTRACT
Head of the Orsini and Colonna families. The two families have been at war until the advent of the demagogic hero Rienzi. For the duration of the opera the Orsinis join forces with the Colonnas to bring down Rienzi, who is attempting to break the stranglehold on Rome effected by the nobles' feud.
