ABSTRACT

I struck into a by-path, therefore, and walked on leisurely, contemplating the fine prospects around me of woods and heaths, and moralizing between whiles on the sequestered life of the forester, who has the spreading oak to canopy his cottage, and the browsing deer for his companions. I had not gone very far, when I overtook a girl who was walking in the same direction, but with a very slow melancholy air.
