ABSTRACT

The liberty which is allowed at home during the holydays I took full advantage of, to see and talk with Anne as often as I could. I found her still the same spirited girl I had left her; and though her advance towards womanhood had improved her looks and obtained her many admirers, she seemed, I fondly thought, to prefer me – boy as I still was – to them all. It might be that she could use more freedom with me on account of my age, but I cannot say positively.
