According as I had anticipated from Percy’s narrative, his friend Dawkins paid him a visit early next morning, ostensibly to learn what success he had met with in retrieving his things, though really, as I had no doubt, to keep up and extend his acquaintance with a young man whom he understood, from his apparent disregard of money, and other hints which he might pick up from his conversation, to have good prospects.
