ABSTRACT

It is requested that, when communicating with the South African Settlers Information Committee, applicants should afford information as regards the family, or persons who might accompany them, and state what capital they could bring for the purchase or stocking of their future farms. The Government Railways within the Union comprise at present 8,924 miles, while railway construction to the outlying districts is being gradually proceeded with, further opening up areas of lands, and adding to this large network of railways already existing. The railway service is well administered, and the cost of travelling is not excessive, so enabling intending settlers to visit the various agricultural districts and personally enquire into the different farming industries before deciding where they will eventually make their home. The interests of farmers have also been carefully safeguarded in all Customs Duties, every facility being afforded to assist agricultural development.
