ABSTRACT
Though written from Beverly, Alberta, Canada, these brief excerpts of Janet Johnston’s letters to her sister Jane, in Stirling, are included here for a contrast with other Scots letters written at this time. They describe her life as a farmer’s wife, how hard it is, the bad climate, and how she longs to be back in Scotland. No letters from Scots in the United States are as discouraging as these.
