ABSTRACT

The Owen Family letter is another Welsh letter that can be used with the preceding collection and with the biographies. The Owens were sorry they had not arrived in America sooner and taken up better and cheaper land. They claim to be the first Welsh settlers to have crossed the Wisconsin River but complain that so many speculators have arrived that it is hard to get good government land for government prices. Their religious references suggest they may have been Calvinist Methodists.
