ABSTRACT

JEROME and Evelyn were married quietly, a month later, in the English Church in Paris. There were six witnesses – the King and Queen of France, Dick Harland, Liancourt, Arizona Jim, and Peter Studevant, who was officially present as a trustee under the marriage settlement. That is to say, six were present by invitation, but there was a seventh guest who invited himself, and who was none the less welcome when he appeared.
