ABSTRACT

A party being proposed to explore the borders of the lake, partly by land and partly by water, they set out on the excursion on a beautiful summer morning. They proceeded in two boats; and after enjoying the beauty of the scenery for several hours, a small bay, overhung by rocks covered with evergreens, whence a pellucid rill, that, after forming a beautiful bason on the top, poured down the declivity into the bosom of the lake, tempted them to land, The cloth was immediately spread under the trees, and they partook with great pleasure of the cold viands that were brought / with them. The repast finished, some diverted themselves by walking up and down in the shade, while others had recourse to the contemplative amusement of angling.
