ABSTRACT
THE weather, which had hitherto been so favourable, began now to alter for the worse. Thick clouds gathered round the summits of the mountains, and by degrees spread over the whole atmosphere, and the sound of distant thunder announced an approaching storm. The boatmen were directed to row to the nearest part of the shore, where some fishing-huts promised shelter from the violence of the tempest.
