ABSTRACT
It is often said that we are to stay in the religion in which we were born, to 'abide in the calling wherein we are called'. Were we in geography or astronomy to take one book as our final rule, our ultimate appeal, the same thing would happen inevitably as has happened in religion. As much as the Roman Catholics can believe that there will be unity and infallibility, so do we. But some say that we are to find it in the Bible –some that we are to find it in the Bible and Church together. Comparing the churches, some say that we are to find it in the Roman Catholic church, others that we are to find it in the Church of England, and some that we are to find it in the Roman Catholic church or in the Church of England – they are not quite sure which.
