ABSTRACT

There is a gross misconception prevalent in business circles that freeware or shareware are inferior to commercial packaged software that usually costs much more, but comes in a tangible physical form on floppy or CD disks in an impressive box accompanied by a properly printed manual. Few programs get such wide distribution as WinZip, but business people will still find a very large selection in the software for downloading sections of the leading Value-Added Networks and bulletin boards. If business people are facing the challenge of hooking all the users on an existing network into the Internet simultaneously, it might be worth talking to Britain's Performance Technology, who has a hardware and software package called Instant Internet that offers a turnkey solution. There are several neat tools that facilitate person-to-person or group communications in cyberspace that do not need massive resources of hardware, software, or communications connections.
