ABSTRACT

In this chapter our aim is to introduce you to the idea of using flow diagrams and read records together to tell you something about how you are approaching a text. In Chapter 7 we shall go into this in more detail but it may be helpful to you to have a preliminary look at the approach at this point. By comparing our read record for a particular passage with our flow diagram of the same passage we may be able to find out whether our reading tactic was correctly chosen and whether the read itself was appropriately tailored to the passage. To keep things simple we shall restrict ourselves in this chapter to the sentence level.
