ABSTRACT
The notion “capital” is fundamental in understanding the operation of the capitalist economy. For this purpose, this chapter presents and critically evaluates the different conceptualizations of capital in the history of economic thought starting from the classical economists and Marx and continues with the first neoclassical economists.
