ABSTRACT

This chapter sets out the case for a second edition of Private Policing. It illustrates some of the major changes that have taken place over the last 20 years, highlighting some of the major research, which it argues has been largely preoccupied with uniformed security guards. Some of the other areas of private policing are illustrated, particularly the policing of cyberspace and corporate security which have been under-researched. The chapter makes a case for more research on the broader private policing and sets out the key chapters in the book.
