ABSTRACT

This chapter considers one of the most important aspects of private policing: the corporate security of organisations. It considers the organisation and role of corporate security management in organisations, using some case studies to illustrate this. The chapter then provides a distinction between the ‘old’ and ‘new’ corporate security management. The chapter considers some of the characteristics of the former, who are often known as security managers or chief security officers (CSO). The ‘new’ covers the growing range of functions emerging in organisations to deal with cyber threats and other crimes usually headed by the chief information security officer (CISO).
