ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the recent history of the Greeks of Turkey, describing how their experiences of persecution and discrimination in Turkey followed by a significant degree of rejection and alienation in Greece led many to lament that ‘in Turkey we were the Greeks, and in Greece we were the Turks’.
