Scan the text, placing accent marks on stressed syllables, adding breath marks at natural cadences, and underlining rhyming words.
Create a precisely notated rhythmic declamation of the text.
Turn this rhythmic version of the text into an original melody, using melodic motives or sequences to correspond to repeated rhythms, varied repetitions of text, or parallel ideas.
