ABSTRACT

Mathematical modelling has been a subject of interest among many mathematics educators, researchers and teachers. There are also several non-profit organisations and mathematics societies that continuously promote the use of mathematics in everyday applications and mathematical modelling. In this concluding chapter, some of these efforts are introduced and described. A number of well-known web resources in the form of websites managed by organisations and some universities will be discussed. Some examples of these resources, along with samples of modelling problems suitable for use by teachers, will be mentioned. In recent years, there have also been a number of regional and international contests and competitions on mathematical modelling organised for high school students. These activities, which serve to promote mathematical modelling will be described. Finally, to conclude, some general comments and thoughts on the teaching of mathematical modelling in schools will be presented and shared.
