ABSTRACT

Every manager needs to be a salesperson for all improvement initiatives that organization decides to invest in. It is often way the change is presented rather than the change itself that is the problem. In analyzing innovation activities, we find that there are five major innovation areas that are used in most projects: Management, Products, Processes, Marketing and sales, and Support services. To change the organization's culture, there needs to be change in behavior and habits in these five major innovation areas. To accomplish this, we suggest using the McKinsey 7Ss model with an additional three drivers that we feel need to be added. Embrace the positive, and cut the legs out from under negative. We may not always win, but we will never win if we never try. Every time we utter or hear one of these popular phrases, it's time to challenge what's going on. Stop putting up roadblocks and detour signs to change and start knocking them down.
