ABSTRACT

Drawing on deeply personal experiences, this chapter narrates three models where the author was involved in deep, lasting and systemic education change. The text moves from the author’s experiences in the classroom as a teacher, to a global research project that was funded by IBM where the author worked across the world, and then moves on to look at how one of the most successful chains of academies approached change in some of the most challenging areas of London. Drawing on these experiences, the chapter concludes by drawing together the threads that are common across these experiences and shares those in the context of how to make sustainable and meaningful change.
