ABSTRACT

Having looked at the trends and questioned the status quo, this chapter begins to explore what a reformed system might look like. It then goes on to look at some key things that need to change to facilitate a new look at how education systems can be reformed. The chapter moves on to reflect on a way ahead, suggesting a series of things that should be considered when looking at building an education system that is really fit for our post-industrial information age. The chapter ends by reflecting on why and how education was outsourced to the state and shares insights into how, in our current age, parents are wanting to be involved in the education of their children and how the changes that have happened because of technology could and should allow this to happen. Using four reflections, this thought is explored, with the fourth reflection being ‘The system reimagined’.
