ABSTRACT

The research evidence on peer assessment in schools is reviewed. First, literature reviews are considered, but often they are not clear about what kinds of schools they refer to. Then key studies in elementary (primary) schools are reviewed – subdivided into different sections. Then key studies in high (secondary) schools are reviewed similarly. The reading here is quite intense, so readers are advised to just read the summary that is provided first, then come back to read the full chapter at a later date. However, the link between the research evidence and the practical advice given is critically important for this book.
