ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 looks at motivation and engagement from a practical point of view. It considers the four steps to employee engagement used by one of the authors as a model for two of three case studies. A five-step employee engagement action cycle is depicted. Three case studies are then described: one anonymised (FGH Financial Consultancy), the other two with full details provided (IPS Inspire Professional Service, and Aish Technologies). The case studies follow a basic and common format, covering: who the organisation is and what its issues are, why the Motivational Maps were used as part of the engagement solution, what happened when they were used, how employees reacted to the Maps, and what changes or results they found.
