ABSTRACT

While the network analysis approach ensures that the planning of the project is logical and identifies the earliest dates by which action must be taken if such planning is to be effective, During the time in which the network was being prepared, as each activity was defined, the estimators and quantity surveyors, together with the Planning Department and Site Supervisor, checked the quantities of materials and work content of each activity and had determined gang sizes and corresponding durations based on normal standards. The basis for this review was the hypothesis that there would be some relation between the take-home pay which the men expected while on this project, the rate of work which they would be prepared to accept, and the assurance of the availability of all the necessary materials and supporting services to enable such working rates to be maintained.
