ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the logistics of establishing and growing an equine-assisted counseling and psychotherapy (EACP) practice. This chapter includes information on starting a program, including recommended resources and considerations for creating business plans and deciding upon a business structure. Next, the chapter describes different practice settings and considerations for partnering with an existing facility or establishing a new facility. The chapter addresses the creation of a professional team including employment structure, additional on-site support personnel (volunteers, barn manager, etc.), and outside personnel (attorneys, accountants, veterinarians, etc.). Finally, the chapter concludes with a discussion of client funding sources and referral strategies.
