ABSTRACT

Computer based training (CBT) systems based on microcomputers are a very strong challenge to mainframe systems. Some microcomputers are more popular than others, with a greater range of authoring tools available for them and better interfaces for attaching other equipment, such as an interactive videodisc player. Simulation based on an interactive videodisc system seems straightforward enough, to the extent that the video can present realistic scenarios for training purposes. The applied data research online interactive training authoring system, developed and marketed in the United States with a full range of lesson design options. Authority was developed by Interactive Training Systems in the United States and is a menu-driven system providing for flexible CBT authoring, with varying types of instruction and use of peripherals such as a touch-sensitive screen or a video player. Marketed by Compsoft, Domino is a British menu-based authoring system, according to a review by Beaumont.
