ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author summarizes all the salient points of the beneficiary doctrine. He describes how it might influence certain aspects of society. The author shows that the beneficiary doctrine will require of such organizations as the police, colleges, organized religions, government agencies and so forth. The beneficiary doctrine consists of three interlinked beliefs: that all modem organizations must quantify their corporate objectives; that their behaviour in the community should engage all relevant interest groups; and that we would be far better served by all our organizations if elected governance were explicitly separated. The beneficiary doctrine states that any organization which cannot set a numerical beneficiaries’ performance indicator should be re-formed until it becomes possible to do so. The author illustrates how the beneficiary doctrine might affect a small sample of well-known organizations. He describes some of beneficiary doctrine consequences upon companies, non-profit making organizations, on the rise of federations and what it would mean for governors and managers.
