ABSTRACT

Each management technique is highly specific, it can only be used to tackle one type of problem, and therefore to select which technique to use the manager need only identify his problem and then select an appropriate technique. It is the manager's responsibility to use these techniques wherever their use can be justified by a comparison of the potential savings compared with the probable cost of using them. Some of the management techniques are simple enough to be learnt in a matter of minutes, others may take a year or more, but the cost of learning them and using them is usually small compared with the effect they can have in cutting the cost of problems. Just as a manager is responsible for running his section efficiently, so is the chairman responsible for the efficiency of his company.
