ABSTRACT

Chapter 13 discusses the ‘Divine Folly’ episodes in a series of active imaginations. Jung enters a library and picks up the book The Imitation of Christ by Thomas à Kempis. He proceeds into the kitchen where he discusses the book with the cook. He falls asleep and sees the dead heading off to Jerusalem (the same dead who return for the Septem Sermones). During the episodes, Jung’s mental condition of hearing voices is discussed with a psychiatrist and he is sent to the madhouse. Raising the dead in terms of the incest taboo is also discussed.
