ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 examines the first part of The Red Book, Liber Primus. The spirit of the times and the spirit of the depths are discussed in relation to what Jung learns about himself and his life. He felt the pressure of his daily life and events and experimented with what would become active imagination. During this time he discovers his soul and begins a lengthy conversation. He is also initiated into his visionary faculty by awakening his dead and this augurs the visual component of his journey.
