ABSTRACT

Ending a relationship is not a decision to be taken lightly, especially if a couple have children, and it’s also not a decision that anyone else can make for them. This chapter provides questions to help both the partner and the addicted partner get closer to making a decision, but it does not tell them what they should do. The option of trial separation is considered and considering the impact on children. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that there is no rush to make a final decision and couples are encouraged to make a positive decision to postpone making that decision if they’re not yet sure what they want or do not feel in a strong enough position to decide.
