ABSTRACT
Dealing with historical material is a key focus in the history classroom. I explain the rationale for building this into everyday practice and what it will look like when students are doing it well. I then make suggestions for, firstly, dealing with historical sources – written, visual and other – and, secondly, teaching well with interpretations.
