ABSTRACT

While the ability to easily edit, copy and manipulate two-dimensional drafting is extremely helpful, the ability to complete three-dimensional (3D) modeling sets Computer-Aided Drafting apart from hand drafting. AutoCAD provides seemingly endless options for creating 3D models, including the ability to draft surfaces and mesh, include and render geographical data, and so on. All of the tools for 3D modeling can be accessed within the Drafting and Annotation workspace with some user customization and the addition of toolbars. The 3D Basics workspace organizes the Ribbon to show tools for creating and modifying basic 3D objects. The View toolbar allows users to choose a direction from which to view their drawing screen. In the top left corner of Model Space, there are three toolbars that provide several more options for manipulating the view within Model Space such as, Viewport Controls, Viewport Configuration, and View Cube. The Steering Wheel is used more often for camera views and animation than for drawing functions.
