ABSTRACT

All of the tools used for manipulating two-dimensional geometry are available for use when working with and manipulating three-dimensional (3D) models. However, when working in three dimensions, it can be easy to move or copy an object along the wrong plane of user's X, Y, Z axis. Several tools in AutoCAD allow them to define which axis of the User Coordinate System they wish to use when manipulating objects in a 3D model. Point commands allow users to move or copy objects along a single plane to a specific alignment with a snap point on another object. When users are using a 3D Visual style and they click on a 3D object, a tool, called a Gizmo, will load at the center of the object. Similar to the 3D Move command, the 3D Rotate command will load the Rotate Gizmo. This Gizmo allows users to define an axis to rotate an object about and to define the rotation angle.
