ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses tools that allow users to change the geometry contained within a previously created three-dimensional (3D) Object. It focuses on the tools which are located within the Edit panel on the Home tab of the Ribbon in the 3D Basics workspace. In drafting, Boolean tools perform a similar function of creating new objects by combining multiple objects and including all or part of the geometry of the original objects. AutoCAD includes Union, Subtract and Intersect as Boolean Tools for drafting. The Slice command allows users to cut an object along a specified plane and choose to keep one or both sides of the object. The Interfere command allows users to view intersecting geometry as well as to create an intersection object without erasing the original geometry. Face Editing commands allow users to manipulate one or multiple faces of a previously created 3D Object.
