ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to take a three-dimensional (3D) model from Model Space and create a two-dimensional (2D) drafting in Paper Space. It discusses the View Base command and the options available therein. The View Base command is the fastest method of laying out 3D models into Paper Space. This command is only available when using AutoCAD on a 64-Bit Windows Platform. Even when selecting the Hidden Line plot style from the Shade Plot command, AutoCAD will hide the “hidden objects” instead of making them hidden lines without making a couple of adjustments to the standard AutoCAD setup. The Section Plane tool allows users to define a cutting plane and then creates a section view, complete with hatching, of all objects that cross through that cutting plane. Detail views provide enhanced views and more information for specific parts included in a drafting plate. The Flatshot command creates a 2D representation of all 3D objects based on the present view.
