ABSTRACT

AutoCAD allows the user to gather a group of objects together into an association called a block. A block is meant to be a repeatable instance of a group of objects. There are two methods for creating blocks. The most common workflow is to create the geometry of the block first and then to combine that geometry into a block definition. The second method is to create a block definition first and then to create the geometry. New blocks must use unique names. When creating blocks in the Block Definition dialog box, there is an option to “Allow Exploding.” Having this box checked will allow users to explode blocks with this block definition within the drawing file. There are two ways to edit the geometry of blocks within AutoCAD. The first one is to use the Refedit tool bar. The second way to edit blocks is to open the block in the Block Editor.
